A Cofán legend · Children's ebook
Woman
of Clay
Deep in the Amazon, a young hunter meets a woman made from the clay of the path he walks on. She has only one rule: she must never get wet.
By Ulices Ortiz, Leo Imbache & Alexander Baranov

The story
“Where are you from?” he asked.
“I live here,” she said. “My name is Clay.”
The hunter falls in love and brings Clay home to his parents. She fills the house with clay pots of chicha and becomes part of the family. But she never bathes and never goes near the rain, until the day the two of them go fishing on the river and the sky turns grey.
A short, beautiful retelling of a Cofán legend about love, promises, and the forces of nature.
